At the office of Dr. John Humphrey Jr., our mission is to treat our patients as we would treat our families. We are concerned with our patients’ oral health as well as their total body health. Our patients are the heart of our practice and the reason we are here. At all times our patients will be treated with respect, dignity and compassion. All our professionals maintain the highest levels of accreditation and pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest trends in dentistry.
John Humphrey Jr., DDS
Dr. Humphrey has been in practice since graduating from the University of Missouri - School of Dentistry in 2003. He maintains memberships with the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, the International Academy of Biological Dentistry & Medicine, the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health, the Holistic Dental Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Dr. Humphrey has pursued extensive training in laser release of symptomatic tongue tie, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, implants, occlusion and is an alumni of the Pankey Institute For Advanced Dental Education as well as the Spear Education Center. He is also the first SMART Certified dentist in the state of Kansas and the KC Metro. This certification is for the Safe Mercury Amalgam Removal Technique, something Dr. Humphrey feels very strongly about, protecting patients and his team! Dr. Humphrey has completed training for symptomatic tongue and lip ties through the Infant Frenectomy Protocol, the Breathe Institute as well as Tongue Tied Academy. KC Dental Works is also one of the only dental offices in the KC area to provide DENTAL OZONE THERAPY, a treatment option that can enhance the outcome in all aspects of dentistry. He is very excited about his involvement with the Eco Dentistry Association, an organization dedicated to helping dentistry become a more environmentally friendly profession. In our current location, Dr. Humphrey was able to incorporate many new technologies that decrease the impact of the office on the world around us.
Dr. Humphrey and his wife, Charity, have three beautiful children, Hudson, Lola and Elle. His family is his true passion and they are what drives him on a daily basis. They love living in Kansas City and enjoy all of the treasures it has to offer!
Erica
Registered Dental Hygienist
Erica has been in dentistry for over 18 years. She graduated from Johnson County Community College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She truly enjoys helping patients understand the importance of healthy teeth and gums and how it relates to total body health. When not working, Erica enjoys traveling to visit family and spending time with her husband, Brad.
Jessie
Registered Dental Hygienist
Jessie has been practicing as a dental hygienist for 11 years. She grew up in Overland Park and graduated from Johnson County Community College with an Associate’s degree in dental hygiene. Prior to her career in dentistry, Jessie attended the University of Kansas, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She connects with her patients through understanding, compassion and education. Jessie has truly found her home at KC Dental Works and values the opportunity to provide holistic dental care alongside a wonderful team. Outside of the office, Jessie enjoys paddle boarding, watching football, DIY home projects and spending time with her dogs.
Maddison
Dental Assistant
Maddison has been in the dental field for over 3 years. Prior to dentistry she worked as CNA in a patient care role. She has a deep appreciation and value for people and brings that into each interaction she has. As our newest addition she is excited to learn more about holistic and biological dentistry. Maddison loves the concept of treating patients as a “whole” person, rather than treating the mouth without thought to the rest of the body. In her free time, Maddison enjoys doing art, hiking and hangin out with her 3 cats!
Tannis
Registered Dental Hygienist
Tannis is a graduate of Concorde Career College, and since 2020 has been a Registered Dental Hygienist. Additionally, she has a degree in Complimentary & Alternative Health that she earned shortly after nearly nine years of service in the US Marine Corps. Tannis loves traveling, finding great restaurants with healthy foods, and sharing essential oils. In the warmer months, you can find her on a stand-up paddle board or mountain biking.
Kimberly
Office Coordinator
Kimberly’s focus on health and wellness has been a personal lifelong journey as well as her professional path for the past 20 years. Her firm belief in the body’s innate ability to heal has led her down the path of holistic health in all aspects of her life. She is passionate about supporting our community by helping create and sustain vibrant health. Kimberly loves traveling and going on new adventures with her daughter, who is her absolute joy in life!
